Worst President Ever?

In a move that seems tailor-made for the history books—though definitely not in a good way—President Biden capped off what many would call a disastrous presidency with a series of controversial last-minute pardons.

Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, and the members of the January 6th Select Committee (including war hawk Liz Cheney) have all been pardoned for crimes the Biden administration has long insisted were nothing but far-right conspiracy theories.

The eleventh-hour (literally) pardons are preemptive—something I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of before. Presidential pardons for crimes that the president insists didn’t happen, and for which none of the pardoned have been charged?

Okaaay.

It sure reads a lot like shielding political allies from potential accountability for crimes they would otherwise be headed to prison for, but what do I know?

Biden, who consistently labeled himself as a champion of the “rule of law,” is tacitly admitting that many of the COVID-era policies and power grabs carried out by his administration—and its allies—could (should??) be punishable by law.

Take Fauci. I mean, here’s a man whose directives led to school closures, economic devastation, and unprecedented overreach into private lives. Some would call it medical tyranny.

And they’d be right.

For many Americans, his name is synonymous with the phrase, “Trust the science”—a smug mantra that came with the demand that any dissenting voices or competing data be silenced, mocked, and called “hate.”

Has anyone ever done so much damage to the credibility of science and medicine than this guy?

And Milley? The general who, at best, stretched the boundaries of his constitutional role and, at worst, undermined his Commander in Chief, radicalized and politicized the military and hid his actions from civilian oversight in ways that will likely remain classified for years.

Not a good guy.

If accountability is necessary for trust in public institutions, Biden’s actions just eroded whatever thin layer remained.

Here’s the thing: These controversial pardons shine a light on the cronyism and self-preservation that defines so much of modern governance. They’re a stark reminder of why teaching our kids about the true nature of power is so vital.

If you’ve read The Tuttle Twins Guide to Modern Villains, you know that modern history is full of people who put personal gain above the public good.

Maybe it’s time we update the book to include some of today’s players.

Chapter One: Anthony Fauci

We need to teach the next generation to question, to research, and to resist the narratives pushed by those who abuse their positions of power. Because if we don’t, we’ll be stuck repeating the same cycles—over and over again.

Today seems like a good day to order The Tuttle Twins Guide to Modern Villains for your family.

It’s going to be up to us to arm the rising generation with the tools they need to navigate a world full of Anthony Faucis and Mark Milleys, and the powerful men and women who run cover for them.

It’s up to us to make sure they know better, so they can do better.
