When Government Fails, The Real Heroes Step Up

As the world watches the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, it’s painfully clear once again that the government is not, in fact, here to help.

Stories of delays in aid, bureaucratic red tape, and confusion among federal agencies abound. At best it’s gross incompetence. At worst, well… at worst it’s pretty evil.

Instead of focusing on getting help to those hit hardest by the storm, FEMA is holding meetings about how to prioritize aid for so-called “marginalized” groups (and no, they’re not talking about poor whites in Appalachia).

One participant said, “FEMA relief is no longer about getting the greatest good for the greatest amount of people… it’s about disaster equity.” She then lamented that, “We have to do more.”

That’s right—rather than getting aid out quickly and efficiently to those who need it, they’re using a political agenda to decide who should get help first.

Meanwhile, candidate Kamala Harris is busy doing trashy podcasts and announcing that we’re sending $157 million in additional assistance to Lebanon for humanitarian aid, bringing the total U.S. aid to Lebanon to over $385 million in the past year.

Shouldn’t our priority be on taking care of Americans first?

If FEMA and the federal government are busy with identity politics and international aid, who’s actually helping those impacted by the hurricane?

It’s the private sector and local communities.

It’s people like Elon Musk, who didn’t wait for permission or funding—he simply saw a need and acted.

Within hours, his company, Starlink, deployed people and satellite internet units to restore vital access to communication with the outside world.

No speeches, no politics, just action.

And it’s not just Musk.

Local businesses, churches, and volunteers from all over are stepping in to provide food, shelter, and support—all while fighting the bureaucratic hurdles that government keeps throwing at them.

This is exactly why we need to teach our kids that they can’t rely on government to solve their problems.

Real solutions come from individuals taking initiative—just like we’re seeing in the aftermath of Helene.

The Tuttle Twins books help kids understand that they have the power to take responsibility, think critically, and make a difference in their communities.

If you want your kids to grow up knowing that they can be part of the solution to their own problems and the problems of others—without waiting for the government to rescue them—our books are the perfect tool.

We want to help raise a generation of thinkers and doers. A generation who is unafraid to step up and step in with confidence and competence. A generation that doesn’t won’t need what the bureaucrats and identity profiteers are selling.

A generation of free people.
