The Border Wall Flash Sale is next-level pettiness

Sometimes I read the news and feel like I’m watching a schoolyard spat instead of the actions of the most powerful government in the world.

Case in point: the Biden administration’s decision to sell off border wall materials for as little as $5 per section.

How charitable of them.

Except, of course, these materials were already paid for with taxpayer dollars—your dollars.

Everyone (especially the current president) knows that the incoming administration plans to build the wall. That means that taxpayers will get hit again to purchase new materials, likely at double the cost thanks to inflation.

(Thanks Federal Reserve. You’re the worst.)

Anyway…

This isn’t governing. It’s petty childishness.

Actually, scratch that—calling it childish is offensive to kids.

The more years I spend working with young people, the more I am convinced that they are far more levelheaded than many adults. Certainly, they are better decision-makers than most adults in Congress.

Children are capable of understanding the importance of problem-solving and using resources wisely.

They have a way of seeing through the nonsense and coming up with practical solutions that adults often overlook.

In fact, today’s freebie in our Five Days of Freebies highlights exactly that.

It includes inspiring stories about kid changemakers—young people who saw problems in their communities and didn’t wait around for someone else to fix them.

Take Easton, for example. At age 14, he designed an affordable prosthetic arm after meeting a young girl whose family couldn’t afford an $80,000 version. Or Katie, a third grader who turned a single 40-pound cabbage into soup for the homeless—then started a nonprofit that’s now donated over 600,000 lbs. of food!

These kids didn’t waste time pointing fingers or playing politics. They saw problems, used the resources they had, and made things better.

What a contrast to the federal government, which seems more interested in settling political scores than solving real problems.

The decision to sell off these border wall materials—knowing full well they’ll have to be repurchased later—isn’t just wasteful. It’s an insult to every taxpayer who works hard to make responsible decisions for their own family.

The truth is, we can’t count on politicians or bureaucrats to fix things. But we can raise kids who are smart, resourceful, and action-oriented—kids who understand that solving problems starts with personal responsibility, not political gamesmanship.

If you’re wondering how to spark that mindset in your own kids, today’s freebie is a great place to start. It’s packed with inspiring stories, activities, and conversation starters that show kids how they can make a difference right now.

I want to help teach kids that they don’t need to wait for permission to change the world.

They don’t need bureaucrats or budgets or appeals to the people who seek to govern.

What they need is passion, determination, and the confidence that they can make a difference—qualities that too many of today’s leaders either never had, or have long ago abandoned.

Download today’s freebie here, and be sure to check back tomorrow for Day 4 of our Five Days of Freebies!

Wise parents raise strong, capable kids.

And strong, capable kids change the world.

Thanks for all you do.
