If you think you’re unqualified to teach your kids, you’re not.

Starting this week, New Jersey will no longer require teachers to pass basic reading, writing, or math tests to earn certification.

That’s right—future educators don’t need to prove they’ve mastered the same skills they’re supposed to teach kids.

This is the state’s latest solution to a teacher shortage, and they’re not alone. New York dropped its literacy testing requirements for teachers back in 2017, claiming it would boost “diversity.” California and Arizona have followed suit, fast-tracking teacher certification and scrapping exam requirements to address shortages.

Across the country, public schools are doubling down on policies that continue to fail kids—year after year, generation after generation.

The good news is, you don’t have to accept this as your family’s reality.

Last week, I talked about how you don’t have to send your kids back to school after Christmas break—and this story is a perfect example of why.

No one is more qualified to teach your kids than you are

Not because you’ve passed a certification test or have a teaching degree, but because you know your children better than anyone else ever will.

You care about their future in a way no teacher (even a good one) or bureaucrat ever could.

One of the biggest lies we’ve been told as parents is that we need “experts” to educate our children. But when you see states lowering standards for teachers—essentially saying, “Anyone can do this”—doesn’t it make you wonder if they’ve known the truth all along?

Public schools are designed to serve a system, not our kids.

Teachers’ unions push for policies that prioritize job security over learning outcomes. Administrators care more about standardized testing than about teaching critical thinking and preserving curiosity.

This is exactly why parents all over the country are opting out of it altogether.

Whether they’re homeschooling, joining co-ops, or using supplemental resources like The Tuttle Twins books and Academy, families are reclaiming education—and seeing incredible results.

You don’t need a teaching certificate to guide your kids’ learning.

What you do need is the desire to help them think critically, understand the world, and grow into capable, confident adults. And guess what? That’s something no government program can ever provide—because it starts with you.

Our books and curriculum are designed to give kids the skills they need to succeed in life—not just pass tests so some overpaid administrator can buy a second vacation home.

Our kids deserve better than what the public school system can ever offer. They deserve an education that prepares them for the real world, and that starts with parents who are ready to take the lead.

You don’t have to be a full-time homeschool family to make your kids’ education home-centered, and we’ve created some of the best resources out there to help support you in your efforts.

Here’s to a New Year full of exciting new possibilities!
