Mr. C

History Professor

Why is the Constitution of the United States the longest-lasting written constitution in the world?

This course will cover the roots of this extraordinary document in the Old Testament, Ancient Greece and Rome, the customs of the Middle Ages, and the Reformation. After testing the Articles of Confederation and applying State Constitutions, the Constitutional Convention brought past evidence and philosophy together with compromises between many opposing viewpoints.

You will learn about the Federalists and Anti-Federalists — the never-ending debate between those who want more Federal power and those who want less, and how the Anti-Feds brought us the Bill of Rights.

By the end of this course, students will be able to judge the effects of our written constitution, the added amendments, and further Supreme Court decisions. Students will also leave with a greater appreciation for our natural rights and a further duty to prohibit government from infringing upon them.
