If you showed this McDonald’s menu to your kids, they’d probably assume it came from some ancient, pre-historic civilization.
But I remember this menu. You probably do too.
Because it wasn’t that long ago.
A Big Mac meal—burger, fries, and a drink—for $2.99.
This was real life. And for most of us, it seems like just a few years ago.
So what happened?
Why do these same meals now cost ten, eleven, twelve bucks? And why does it feel like our paychecks get smaller every year, even when the number printed on them goes up?
It’s not “corporate greed.”
Inflation is not some mysterious naturally-occuring phenomenon that just appears, like bad weather.
It’s the Federal Reserve.
Why are we suffering? Well, because almost 80% of all U.S. dollars currently in circulation were created in just the last few years.
Let that sink in.
What we’re experiencing now is a direct result of printing trillions out of thin air in the name of stimulus, bailouts, and emergency programs.
The more dollars that exist, the less each one is worth. It’s really pretty simple.
And, it can’t be blamed on just one politician, party, or president. Covid may have given them an excuse to accelerate it, but this was always how it was going to go.
This is the scheme that has crippled the poor and middle class while making the ultra-rich richer since the inception of the Fed over a hundred years ago.
This is why homes, food, vehicles, education—everything—feels like it’s slipping further and further out of reach for ordinary families. We’re not “progressing.” We’re being robbed, slowly, systematically, and with a smile.
If we don’t teach our kids the truth, no one else will.
Public schools won’t explain how inflation works—or who benefits from it. They won’t teach your children what sound money is, or how the dollar got detached from reality. But our Tuttle Twins books will.
