Stand Up to Critical Race Theory in Schools

Over the weekend, Americans celebrated Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the day the news of slavery’s end reached Galveston, TX. In many ways, this celebration is the fulfillment of Independence Day. It represents when our nation’s then-laws were measured against our God-given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness… and the God-given rights won. And in this regard, Juneteenth is perfect proof of why Critical Race Theory should not become a pillar of what we teach our children about the United States. You see, a core component of CRT is the idea that America is irredeemable, that capitalism is a pillar of inequality, and that all people fit into either the mold of “oppressed” or “oppressor.” In contrast, Juneteenth reminds us that America is indeed capable of making positive changes, and rewarding natural rights over the tyrannical tendencies of man and government. Our history shows us that if we

3 Lessons I’ve Learned From Kid Entrepreneurs

If you have children in your life, you already know that we adults can learn a lot from them. Sometimes, kids teach us to have a sense of humor… other times, a sense of patience. But kids teaching business sense to grown adults? Actually, you’d be surprised. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet hundreds of impressive youngsters through our Children’s Entrepreneur Markets. All across Utah (where we operate the markets), kids come together to sell products, services… literally, anything they want! Our vendors promote and sell their products, engage with customers, and make change totally independently (in other words, without Mom or Dad’s help.) And while it’s rewarding enough just to watch them sprout their business wings and fly, I’ve gleaned lots of real-life wisdom that even us adults can benefit from. Here are three recent lessons I’ve learned from our young entrepreneurs… 1. Stand out. If you try to

Psst… The Government Thinks Inflation is “Too Low”

I talk a lot about big government. Mostly, about how it takes advantage of people to grow its own power at our expense. In doing so, it makes our lives more difficult, drives up the cost of living, and takes away the very freedoms that the federal government was created to help protect. And while the world is full of stories of how these things happen, sometimes we get an extra-clear wake-up call. This week, we got one of those from Janet Yellen, who is Chair of the U.S. Treasury Department and former head of the Federal Reserve. (Though I prefer to call it the Creature from Jekyll Island…) Yellen, speaking to Bloomberg News, claimed that inflation is “too low” right now. (What?!) I could leave this rant right here and you’d likely understand why that’s a horrible thing to hear from the person controlling our money… but let’s dive

Fauci’s Emails and the Dark Side of Bureaucracy

This week, over 4,000 pages of emails sent and received by Dr. Anthony Fauci were made public through FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests by Buzzfeed and The Washington Post. These emails span from January to June 2020, and contain all sorts of insights into the hellish year-and-change our country just experienced. And while many left-wing outlets have clung to bits of humor and humanity to keep Fauci embedded in our minds as “America’s Doctor”… a keen reader will find all kinds of reasons to distrust this man, as well as the government he’s been advising (some might say controlling). For starters, this email from February 2020 shows Fauci was credibly warned the virus may have come from a lab — not a bat or other animal. In May of 2020, Fauci did an exclusive sit-down with National Geographic. The headline? “Fauci: No scientific evidence the coronavirus was made in

Why Are People Against Critical Race Theory?

Chip and Joanna Gaines, beloved stars of HGTV hit show Fixer Upper, are the latest to be burnt at the stake by the social media mob. Their crime? A $1,000 donation to Chip’s sister, Shannon Braun — who is running for her local school board. But (not surprisingly), news reports on the donation would have you thinking these two were far more politically charged. You see, on the campaign trail, Shannon Braun committed the grave crime of publicly opposing critical race theory. This placed her outside of the “woke” worldview in which children are to be separated into groups of “oppressed” and “oppressor”… And it placed those who support her—like Chip and Joanna—in danger of being smeared as racists. And while there’s an issue with the media painting a small gift to a family member’s local race as a big donation to a highly politicized issue… that’s not the real

Finally, Some Good News…

You don’t need me to list off all the reasons people are feeling down and defeated right now — it’s been a tough year. The future seems uncertain. Fortunately, even the most terrible situations can present opportunities for good. You see, a crisis creates problems. By finding ways to solve those problems, people with valuable skills can provide for themselves, serve their communities, and show generosity to others. Today, I want to shout out a young man who’s turned a problem into an opportunity, and that opportunity to generosity. Dominick Pecora is a 12-year-old from Paoli, Pennsylvania. He’s an avid bicyclist. Over the years, he’s learned how to do all sorts of tricks… but also, how to repair bikes and keep them in good condition. When the pandemic hit last March, all of the bicycle repair shops in his neighborhood shut down to comply with government regulations. Dominick’s friends started
