With a name like Court, it was law or shuffleboard, and professional shuffleboard opportunities are limited. Court grew up in central California in a family of attorneys, with a ‘case of the day’ at the dinner table every night.
A major history nerd from his youth, Court went to college fully intending to major in American history. Following a two-year religious mission to Indonesia, however, Court had his eyes opened to a different side of the world. He graduated with a degree in Southeast Asian History (his capstone undergrad paper was on a jam session between Benny Goodman and the King of Thailand) and then went to law school, where he graduated magna cum laude, was on the National Moot Court team, and served as editor of the International Law and Economics Journal.
After returning to California to practice law– where he ended up as the Court Administrator and Tribal Judge for a Native American Tribe– Court ended up in South Dakota, far and away his favorite state, where he works as a Special Assistant Attorney General.
Court and his awesome wife have 4 amazing homeschooled children, kayak on the Missouri River, and play D&D.
